Updates for 1st Period Chinese

These announcements are relevant only to my Year 2 students (1st Period) at BHSEC (Spring 2020).

April 6 , 2020, Monday

Dear Students,

Hope all of you are well.  Starting from this week, I will hold two office hours each week, and one virtual class each week for every class.  These meetings will be done via Zoom.  To have zoom meetings, you just need to click on the above link and provide the password given above. Please take advantage of the office hours to get additional help. Anyone who is willing to make a consistent effort these following 6 weeks still has opportunities to improve their grades. I also encourage everyone to attend the virtual class to get some oral practice with the language and some instructions from me. (I will record the weekly classes and make them available to students who can’t attend.)

 Here are  my weekly office hours and weekly virtual class meeting. 

Office Hours: Zoom Meeting at 1:00-2:00 pm, Tues & Thurs

Virtual Class Time: 1:00-2:00, Friday for Year 2 Chinese Course

Please check the revised syllabus I sent you for password and login info.

 

(Weekly Virtual Classes will be recorded for students who can’t attend and recordings will be made available at my website.)

In my  revised Syllabus, I have already provide most of the materials which you can access with a click of mouse, but some links will be provided to give you easy access to all the homework materials right on the syllabus.

It is important that you keep up with all your work and extensions can be made for special circumstances, but you must keep me informed. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any help.  Again, please submit all the assignments in Jupiter by clicking on the green circle on the grades page and it will take you to a page where you can download your completed work for each assignment; there you can also share google doc link with me. It also has a window for me to see your work and at the same time, a box for me to give you feedback. Most of students are able to submit without trouble. If you really can’t make it work, then you can email me your work.

Sorry I was unable to make the Google Classroom work. However, I will find other ways to communicate with you. I have decided to post all my class updates on my Ling-LingChinese.com website. Simply click on Announcements, all the assignments updates sent to you via email will also be posted there in one place.

Here is today’s new assignment to keep you engaged with Chinese learning. Try to keep up with the work to stay ahead!!

Kudos to those who have kept up with the assignments! Those who have kept up are going to learn well and not be left behind further. Remember, it will only make us more resourceful to acquire skills in life. Opportunities in life are for those who make themselves ready with all kinds of good skills. Take efforts to learn useful skills are the sure way to secure your future!!
