Chinese Conversation Assignment (Performance Script)
Task:
- Work with a partner.
- On a separate sheet, come up with a script based on the following conversation guidelines. Memorize the dialogue script. Do not read but act out the dialogue.
- Perform the conversation in front of the teacher.
- The conversation needs to go back and forth so that each person learns about the other. Don’t let just one person do all the asking.
- Each participant must write the full conversation in Chinese characters.
- Submit the script to the teacher along with the self-evaluation form at the end of your performance.
Conversation Requirements: (Please write out the script on a separate sheet!)Write out the conversation in a conversational format, indicating who is doing the speaking.
[Speaker 1 Name]: 你好!我叫【Name】。你好吗?
[Speaker 2 Name]: 我很好!请问你姓什么,叫什么名字?
- Begin with a friendly greeting and introduce yourself.
[Partner A Name]: Hello! My name is xxx. How are you?
[Partner B Name]: I am fine. What’s your last name? Your first name please?
- Continue to find out the following information about each other. [Agian, the conversation needs to go back and forth so that each person learns about the other. Don’t let just one person do all the asking and the other answers. Both need to find out the following information about the other.]

- You discover you both attend the same school but are in different grades. Insert this line in your conversation!

- English:
- Great! We are in the same school and the same grade! I also attend Bard High School!

- Continue the conversation:
- “Who is your Chinese teacher?”
- Respond: “My Chinese teacher is Shi Laoshi!”
- The other responds: “My Chinese teacher is also Shi Laoshi!”
- “Who is your Chinese teacher?”
- The school bells ring. End the conversation politely:
- “It’s a pleasure to meet you! Goodbye!”
Response: “I am also pleased to meet you! Goodbye!”
