Discovering Chinese pro L12 Oral Performance Assignment: Order Food in a Chinese Restaurant

Specific Topic:  Order food in a Chinese Restaurant

Instruction:

This conversation requires at least two partners. One acts as a waiter/waitress. Another acts as a customer.

  • First Scene: participate in a simulated conversation. You are first walking into a restaurant.
    • Beginning with the customer walking into the door.
    • Hostess asks, ¨How many people please?”

请问有几位?Qǐngwèn yǒu jǐ wèi?

  • Second Scene after sitting down.
    • The waiter/waitress introduces himself/herself and then asks what kind of drink the customer(s) would like to order.
  • Then the waiter/waitress asks what food the customer(s) would like to order.
  • Each customer will order at least: 1) One appetizer , 2) A main course, 3) A soup
  • The server asks if they would like to order anything else and makes some recommendation for desserts.
  • The customer(s) orders their desserts.
